Statement on NZ Distribution of the Australian Financial Review

SYDNEY, December 19 2003 -- Mr Michael Gill, Publisher and Editor-in-chief of Fairfax Business Media, said that local printing of the Australian Financial Review in New Zealand would be discontinued, with the paper available, beginning with tomorrow's edition, via air delivery from Australia at key outlets one or two days later. There is no interruption to subscribers' access to the paper's premium website, afr.com.

Mr Gill said that work was continuing to improve the quality and depth of business coverage in the Fairfax New Zealand mastheads, and that developments would be announced in due course.
