Fairfax Announces Taranaki General Manager
Mike
Brewer has been appointed General Manager of Taranaki Newspapers, Fairfax New Zealand
Chief Executive Officer Brian Evans announced today.
Mike Brewer, 37, is currently business development manager for Taranaki
Newspapers and takes up his new position on October 28.
Brian Evans said Mike Brewer's strong marketing and sales skills would be of
considerable benefit in growing the business and serving readers and
advertisers.
He said Mike Brewer has a passion for the industry and being Taranaki born and
bred brought additional value to the leadership of the business.
Based in New Plymouth, Taranaki Newspapers publishes The Daily News (New
Zealand's highest market penetration daily newspaper), two community
newspapers (The Hawera Star and Midweek), and operates a commercial printing
division.
Mike Brewer will succeed Rod Hall, who is transferring within Fairfax New Zealand.
Prior to taking up his current position with Taranaki Newspapers, Mike Brewer
spent 10 years with radio. He was general manager of The Radioworks for
Taranaki for two years, spent four years as sales manager in the Bay of Plenty
and Manawatu and four years in radio sales in Taranaki.
Mike Brewer is married to Rhonda and the couple have four children, Jordayna
9, Renee 7, Jayden 5, and Ella aged 2 days. He said he was excited to have the
opportunity to lead one of New Zealand's most progressive newspapers.
