Newspaper Details
Waiheke Island is famous for its beaches, vineyards, artists, musicians and olive groves.
The second largest island in the Hauraki Gulf and just 17.7 km from Auckland, Waiheke has a permanent population of around 8,500 residents. Up to 2,000 of these commute to Auckland, via ferry, every day for work and school.
As a popular holiday destination the population can swell to over 40,000 people over the summer months.
The main settlements are Oneroa, Blackpool, Palm Beach, Surfdale, Ostend, Rocky Bay (Omiha) and Onetangi
The island has 40 km of gorgeous beaches. It boasts award-winning wines, tourism, arts and crafts and several prestigious events. These include an annual spring garden safari, a biennial sculpture exhibition around the spectacular Hauraki Gulf and a winter blues festival.

The Circulation area includes Ostend, Blackpool, Oneroa, Omiha, Onetangi, Palm Beach, Surfdale - including rural delivery and Orapiu, as well as shops and businesses, Fullers Ferries, SeaLink Ferries and Matiatia wharf. Also available at Devonport Wharf, Freemans Bay New World and Foodtown Quay Street.
Newspaper Display Advertising
Display advertising is located throughout the publication and utilises size, colour, illustration and typography to attract the reader's attention. Display advertising is primarily found in the editorial sections but can also be placed within classified sections if deemed appropriate and relevant.
You can request a preferred position within the newspaper for a fee or choose "run of paper" whereby the advertisement is placed in any position in the paper at our discretion. Opting for run of paper generally results in a reduced charge to an advertiser.
Classified Advertising
Classifieds are advertising only pages across a number of different categories e.g for sale, trade services or situations vacant.
Premium Positions
Advertisers are able to purchase front page solus positions, premium pages and loaded or specific positions, all subject to availability.
The Waiheke Marketplace runs their weekly Real Estate feature, "Waiheke Property" every Wednesday. Both MREINZ and private home owners can use this feature. Designed as a weekly lift-out.
Standard Sizes
Run of Paper display ads range from 10cm high x 7.5cm wide to a full page at 38cm high x 27cm wide.
Classified - Run-ons minimum of 4 lines to boxed ads with discounts available for regular volume advertising, colour classifed ads are available.
Run of Paper (ROP)
The Waiheke publishes ROP every Wednesday.
Sections are Local News and regular features on Health, Beauty, Business, Lifestyle, Sport, Education.

Reader advertisements are also accepted, they must contain the following:
- - reader advertisements must be entirely contained within a ruled border
- - the text may be set in ordinary news type
- - the word ADVERTISEMENT must be set in 14pt capitals and in bold, and must be placed inside the border at the top left-hand corner of the advertisement or centred at the top.

How to calculate a rate
The Waiheke Marketplace has a number of varying rate levels depending on volume and position in the paper.
Solus or special loading positions are available for an added percentage rate
